My Proposal

I, Karlitza Belen Lebron. would like to propose for the Elderly Rights to make change for them in the future. The elderly are treated more carefully and more polite but they don't have a lot of rights like others do. I would like to propose a change to the the Elderly Rights to make a difference. They should have the same opportunities and rights like us.

An elderly individual has all the rights, benefits, responsibilities, and privileges granted by the constitution and laws of this state and the United States, except where lawfully restricted. The elderly individual has the right to be free of interference, coercion, discrimination, and reprisal in exercising these civil rights. An elderly individual has the right to be treated with dignity and respect for the personal integrity of the individual, without regard to race, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability or source of payment.

Other rights the eldery should have is the abuthority to complain about the individual's care or treatment. An elderly individual is entitled to privacy while attending to personal needs and a private place for receiving visitors or associating with other individuals unless providing privacy would infringe on the rights of other individuals. An elderly individual may manage the individual’s personal financial affairs. An elderly individual may choose and retain a personal physician and is entitled to be fully informed in advance about treatment or care that may affect the individual’s well-being.
The Elderly Rights Act has provided a lot of useful resources for the elderly in their life but I think we could add some other things too. I would recommend all of there things to the poor senior citizens especially. The senior citizens are very important in our society. They are our inspiration when we are all grown up because we will become like them.
